With funding from the Royalton Education Foundation, I was able to purchase light table accessories to be used in our STEAM area. These sensory materials help me to create an inviting learning space, in which children are encouraged to engage in endless learning activities through open-ended play experiences, creating multiple learning experiences.
In addition to providing a sensory experience, children will also increase fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, cooperation amongst peers/adults, sharing space and materials with peers/adults, oral language skills, math concepts, problem-solving skills and creativity.
The Conscious Discipline book sets allow me to provide resources to our preschool children to help teach them how to recognize and manage their emotions. These books are used in role play of social skills and help teach young children how to appropriately regulate their big feelings in a constructive manner.
All of these skills will help prepare our preschoolers for academic growth and Kindergarten readiness.
